First National Workshop for Women in Science: Production of Knowledge in Science and Technology

The Academic Title Dr. Ruth Shady Solis, Director of the Archaeological Zone Caral, Peru and Focal Point for Women Program for Science, is organizing the First National Workshop for Women in Science: Production of Knowledge in Science and Technology, scheduled to take place during 26 and February 27, 2015 at the headquarters of the National Library of Peru (Av De La Poetry 160 -. San Borja), in order to encourage the continued development of professional women in the fields of science and innovation .
The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) was created in 1938 with the aim to promote and disseminate scientific and technological research at national level in the areas of Agricultural Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Materials Sciences, Sciences, Social Sciences and Astronomy. Part of the InterAmerican Network of Academies of Sciences (IANAS), which aims to support and strengthen research in science and technology throughout the American continent. Through the Peruvian Focal Points, develops programs Water, Education and Science, Energy and Women in Science. See program.
Workshop Objectives:
  • Bringing together researchers to generate a scientific network to help promote the participation of women in the development of science, in coordination with the ANC, through the Scientific Sections and the Task of Focal Point for Women Science.
  • Promote the formation of teams of multidisciplinary and inter-institutional research for the benefit of the production of scientific knowledge and social development of the country, including the feminine gender.
