Agreements

An Inter-Institutional Cooperation Agreement was signed with the District Municipality of Puerto Supe, which belongs to the Province of Barranca, for the two institutions to work together on the urgent removal of all the waste and garbage from “Áspero Archeological Zone” and consequently to proceed with the program of archaeological research, preservation, and value enhancement of the monuments belonging to this archaeological complex, creating the conditions necessary for the research work being carried out by Executing Unit 003 – Caral Archaeological Zone.  An Agreement has also been signed with the District Municipality of Végueta, Province of Huaura, to carry out the archaeological research, preservation, and value enhancement of the monuments belonging to this archaeological complex.

The investigation and preservation work in Vichama revealed at the top of the Building of the Cornices a ceremonial plaza with a predominant wall in low and high relief where there is an image of a toad with human hands under a geometrical shape that looks very much like lightning.  The buildings that are being investigated and recovered have a pyramidal design, and there are also sunken circular plazas reminiscent of Caral.  In these constructions, certain elements unique to the site have been found, for example architecture with cornices, and on them, unbaked clay reliefs or figurines that are being recovered.
