Conservation Of Objetos

The Process of Conservation of Objects

The recovered materials with special characteristics that need to receive specialized conservation treatment are transferred by the Materials Analysis Unit to the Materials Conservation Unit.

The Materials Conservation Unit enters the materials received to Caral’s museographic collection, registers them, and evaluates them to determine what kind of care or action is required for their conservation.  This Unit also registers the objects in the National Movable Property Registration System in the Ministry of Culture.

Any expert analyses required by the museum objects are then carried out in coordination with the Conservation Unit, which is also responsible for cataloguing and mounting these materials for exhibitions put on by Caral Archaeological Zone.

The Conservation Unit has air-conditioned storage rooms for the archaeological collection.  It is also responsible for the care of the materials during museographic displays.
